A Stormy Start & Golden Finish β Maternity Session at Southwold Beach
ο»ΏThereβs something so magical about watching a familyβs story unfold from bump to baby, and Phoebe and Louisβ journey was one I loved capturing from beginning to end.
Our maternity session at Southwold Beach began with soft skies, gentle waves and that beautifully calm seaside atmosphere I love shooting in. Phoebe looked incredible in her neutral, textured outfit β the perfect pairing for that warm, editorial beach aesthetic.
But just five minutes into shooting⦠the heavens opened.
Torrential rain.
Not a gentle drizzle β actual sideways rain.
We took shelter, waited it out for a few minutes, and unbelievably, the storm passed almost as quickly as it appeared. The sun broke through, the sky softened, and Phoebe slipped into her second outfit β giving us those gorgeous mermaid-wave, windswept, beach goddess vibes that made the whole session feel effortless and romantic.
Louis joined in too, and their connection, their excitement, and the stillness between the waves made the whole shoot feel incredibly intimate. Storm or no storm, it was perfect.
Welcoming Baby Remi β The Dreamiest At-Home Newborn Session
A few weeks later, I stepped into their home to meet their new little love, baby Remi.
And trulyβ¦ the most chilled newborn Iβve ever photographed. He slept through most of his session, didnβt cry once, and melted into every pose with that beautifully natural newborn softness. We kept everything relaxed and authentic β no props, no studio lights β just genuine moments, natural window light and slow, gentle storytelling.
Sentimental nursery details
One of my favourite touches was the nursery.
Their teddy-bear themed space was full of warmth and history, including curtains that once belonged to Louisβ own nursery when he was a baby. Vintage, meaningful and so special to include in their gallery.
A family affair β including the cats
Their cats made an appearance too, quietly padding around and occasionally curling up nearby. I love including pets in newborn sessions β theyβre such an important part of the family story.
A session full of stillness
Everything about the morning was peaceful β Remi sleeping soundly, Phoebe and Louis taking in those early days together, and the atmosphere of a home settling into its new rhythm. These are the moments I love capturing most.
