A Bump to Baby Story by the Sea | Felixstowe Beach & In-Home Newborn Session

There’s something incredibly special about documenting a family not just once, but across two chapters of their story — the anticipation of pregnancy and the quiet, love-filled days that follow once baby arrives.

Amy and Kieran’s bump to baby session was exactly that — relaxed, emotional, and full of meaningful moments, from a windswept beach in September to their cosy home just before Christmas

A Maternity Session at a Quiet Felixstowe Beach

We began this journey back in September at a beautifully quiet stretch of Felixstowe beach. Amy, Kieran, and their four-year-old son Chester arrived ready to embrace the moment — and the weather — with open arms.

Amy had a clear vision for her maternity session: jeans and a shirt, relaxed and timeless, something that felt like her. It suited the coastal setting perfectly. Soft light, bare feet in the sand, gentle movement, and plenty of space for Chester to explore made the session feel effortless and natural.

Despite the sea being very cold, Amy bravely took a dip — one of those moments that perfectly sums up maternity sessions by the coast: a little wild, a little emotional, and completely unforgettable.

As the session drew to a close, the most beautiful golden hour appeared. Chester held a delicate pink rose - a quiet nod to the baby girl growing inside — and gently held it up against Amy’s bump. It was one of those moments you don’t plan, but you never forget.

Baby Evelyn’s Arrival

Baby Evelyn arrived eight days early, and at the end of November I returned to the family home to capture their newborn chapter. Their in-home newborn session was calm, gentle, and completely baby-led. Evelyn was a little unsettled — which is so completely normal — but with plenty of cuddles, reassurance, and breaks, we created a relaxed rhythm that allowed her to settle in her own time.

These are often my favourite sessions — real life unfolding just as it is.

The family had their Christmas tree up, filling the space with soft twinkling lights and warmth. It made for the most perfect backdrop and marked their first Christmas as a family of four. Between feeds, cuddles, and quiet moments on the bed, we captured honest, meaningful memories that tell their story exactly as it was in that season.
